Hi:

This is the website for Owen Carter, a British guy who has been living in Amsterdam for the last 11 years.

I'm afraid there is nothing earth-shattering here, no solutions for World Peace, no cures for peoples ills.. Just a few of my photos and ramblings.

Spot the difference?

Probably not…
I’ve made quite a few changes to the site, but they are all in the background, minor layout tweaks, and I’ve got the site much more HTML4 compliant.

Plan.

A way to sort out my domains:
www.owen.demon.nl : Personal Website, this weblog.
easytarget.me.uk : Split into domains; gallery, webcam etc.. Otherwise redirects to personal website.
easytarget.org : New master site. Something sassy and simple with an image blog, kept in style with the common theme I use. Links to ezopic.* and personal site, but no subdomains.
ezopic.net/com/org : Something new.. some art?
Time to do some web authoring. :-)

Tabbed Web pages

Humm.. The BBC website (international version) has just adoped a design style with ‘tabs’ at the top to aid navigation. And, despite my initial ‘so what’ response, I looked at the site and found that in fact I rather like the design. I may even use something like that when this site next gets a makeover.

It is Time…

…to upgrade my server.

I am just about to shut it down, it’s been running a long time:
calvin# uptime
10:24PM up 215 days, 11:35, 3 users, load averages: 0.05, 0.05, 0.05

Apache stats are:
Server uptime: 114 days 10 hours 38 minutes 36 seconds
Total accesses: 150734 – Total Traffic: 804.8 MB
CPU Usage: u534.023 s108.133 cu13333.6 cs0 – .141% CPU load
.0152 requests/sec – 85 B/second – 5.5 kB/request

Nothing spectacular, but a record for me.

Webcam

Webcam is now online, the images can be pretty terrible, especially when the sun is pouring into my apartment, but the page itself is classy, even if I say it myself.

Webcam

Hummm.. My Webcam is set-up but I obviously need to do a load of work since it only shows images in low light levels. During daylight you just get a white image.

No access to my gallery?

Oops, some bad Apache/SSL configuration. I’ll fix it soon.

Adsl-Tastic!!!!!!

I’ve got Broadband and I’m not afraid to use it ;-)

Yeah Ha!

My ADSL connection creeps closer, the man from Demon says my phone line is suitable and I should be connected within a month! Now the fun begins as I create a server at home.

Only use Linux for servers!

.. following from my previous post. I’ll be deinstalling the suck-arse user interface, since the system is purely a server system. And will not actually need a screen attached to it, it will make a better choice for this than Windoze.

No Updates?

Useless ain’t I.

Boom!

My PC blew up on Friday (motherboard..) but never fear, I have a new system up and going already (with a blue neon fan!). Ski pictures are html-ized and will be up as soon as I get a moment to FTP them to the server.
