A good Guardian article explaining why the Recording Industry could learn a lesson from the fact we spend millions on buying something we can get from the tap almost free.

Those fun lovin folks at the MPAA have lost their case against Jon Lech Johansen, the kid who helped break the encryption used to control how you watch DVD movies. This is great news for anyone who cares about having any freedom of choice in the future. A band that one of my friends sings in have their own webpage! With some pics and tracks on it. You can also get some of their music from this site. Have a listen, they’re great! Update: 2009, Jo is no longer with them, but I think they are still doing fine. The artist formerly known as ‘Squiggle’, Has a nice piece about the current attempts by the Information Industry to own/control everything we see and hear, unfortunately his ‘d00dz’ style of writing is a bit irritating (‘man it’s sooo last week!’), but what he says is great, which is the main thing.. |
