Hi:

This is the website for Owen Carter, a British guy who has been living in Amsterdam for the last 11 years.

I'm afraid there is nothing earth-shattering here, no solutions for World Peace, no cures for peoples ills.. Just a few of my photos and ramblings.

Flatland

Written over 100 years ago, told from the perspective of a 2-dimensional being. Weird but Cool.

Brauch’s Observation:

If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
etc..

Quit Slashdot

It´s a waste of time really.. Some very reasoning here.

Hurrah!

I´ve got gmail. Try:

owen point carter at gmail point com

Yep, just use a ´.´ where I say ´point´, and don´t forget the ´at´ (@), it´s an anti-Spam measure. :-)

Also; note that I can´t access this mail account from work :(

Does beer make you attractive?

When I’m drunk I get plenty of women. It’s sorta funny how I can only find thier ugly roomates when I wake up though. Seen on /.

They call it a ‘model’ plane..

But it just flew the Atlantic Ocean! VERY cool, I’m in awe of these guy’s.

This took my fancy.

To say [that] Slashdot is about gardening when Slashdot is really about obsessive compulsive, autistic, freaks trying to support little people against the establishment, and worshiping at the bitter chalice of technology, all while chanting monty python lyrics, well the simplifcation is fun. ;)
Seen on Slashdot, and really, I can’t argue with it.

Linux sucked in 2003..

Most disappointing, I just installed SUSE 8.1 on my server, it’s like using something designed by an Idiot Savant. Lots of -really- incredibly clever stuff. Interspersed with massive bugs and fundamental design errors. What Linux -really- needs is a usability nazi. Someone who simply says ‘no’ to the idiots.

Free Software

“If the software includes a whiny, bearded guy who demands you change the name of your project — is it still free?” – Quality Quote seen on SlashDot. If you don’t get it, sorry, it’s a Geek Politics thing..

So, farewell then, Pioneer.

7.6 billion miles from Earth, and 2 Million years away from Aldebaran. Fare ye well.

Is your Son a Computer Hacker?

Essential advice for parents. [In case you're wondering, this is satire!]

Nerdy site..

Irridium Sattelite Flares, Actually has software that tries to predict when you can see the sun glinting off some reflective parts of satellites used by the Irridium communications system. This is quite funky considering the accuracy needed to predict this.
