Hi:

This is the website for Owen Carter, a British guy who has been living in Amsterdam for the last 11 years.

I'm afraid there is nothing earth-shattering here, no solutions for World Peace, no cures for peoples ills.. Just a few of my photos and ramblings.

I love the BBC

Because they do things like this:
Relatively Einstein
And then broadcast it over the Internet :-)

Meeting People

When two people meet there are really six people present:
Each Person as the other sees them.
Each Person as they see themselves.
Each person as the really are.

Very smart, wish I know who said it, heard it on Radio4 last night.

Tabbed Web pages

Humm.. The BBC website (international version) has just adoped a design style with ‘tabs’ at the top to aid navigation. And, despite my initial ‘so what’ response, I looked at the site and found that in fact I rather like the design. I may even use something like that when this site next gets a makeover.

Dr.Who?

Brilliant TV. Last nights episode (Bad Wolf) has to rate as one of the most fantastic bits of television I have seen in a very long time.

Spam

Spam is a nuiscance, and the people who send it are generally at the ‘pond-life’ end of the business ethics scale. But it’s always embarassing to see well-meaning politicians and consumer programs talking about it, since they just don’t understand what the hell they’re talking about. Fortunately, Bill Thompson, has a nice piece on the BBC’s webwise section that explains why it cant simply be solved by legislating ISP’s, in words even Watchdog should be able to understand.
